Cam Dillon's Race Report 4
Hi Everyone
Thought I give you an update on my past week at Oak hill. Sunday night we rocked into oak hill mx park. Monday I went and signed in and got every thing ready for the week too come. Tuesday we had practise, i went out and got the feel of the track. The track was good, sandy and loamy dirt to mix with it. Wednesday was the day to put the head down and qualify. Moto one 250f Schoolboy stock class, I got off 2 a all right start was 6th around the 1st corner and rode good to finish 8th in that moto.250f open 4stroke class, got off to a good start was 8th and went off a berm and clicked Nuetral ended up finishing 12th. In the 250f modified class, I got a poor start and tried to fight my way back up to the front runners, after pushing so hard i caught the inside peg and went down and ended up finishing 17th which found me a spot in the Lcq(last chance qualify)was pretty disappointed in that. Thursday, today nothing went well 4 me. I had 3 bad starts I kept wheel spinning off the shiny concrete start gates witch made me charge hard to get inside the top 10.The extra pressure on me caused me ride out of my comfort zone and crash in the 3 motos. Friday I was up 1st 4 my final moto,4 the 250 open 4stroke class witch I rode well in and finished 9th giving me 8th overall 4 that class 4 the event..250f mod class I got a bad start and crashed again, was not happy.250 intermediate mod class I was 11th and went down on the 3rd lap and couldn’t start the bike. I dnf that race putting me into a Lcq. Friday I had my lcq races. I got a good start in the 250f schoolboy mod class and lead from start to finish witch put me threw into the final..250f mod class i got a good start and was in 6th and a guy in front off me went down for me too finish 5th to qualify for all my classes. Final moto 4 250f modified schoolboy, I got off too a good start from the out side gate and was in 10th and got takin out by another rider, that was the day done for me..
Sunday I was up for the schoolboy 250f stock class and I was running a comfortable 10th and when the nasty rollers took me down, giving me a hospital visit as I took a handle bar to the tummy. The medics were worried about my spleen been ruptured as I had abrasions on me and struggled to walk. That left me not riding any more of the finals day. As I had qualified for all my classes it wasn’t a good week for me as I had bad luck. The speed these kids ride at in America is so fast and the intensity from the word go to the chequered flag is intense. I now know what I have too do to become a faster rider, turning up too a track and doing laps isn’t it.
I would really like too thank Ben and Lucy Townley, Richard Adamson, Mum, Dad, the Taupo Motorcycle Club and to all the people that have helped me get to America
Thanks so much
I hope to be up too full health before the North islands & New Zealand’s
Thanks
